CME Group continues transition, impresses brokers

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade have come one step closer to fully merging their operations by putting the CBOT’s agriculture and equity index products on the CME Globex electronic platform.

So far the transition seems to be going smoothly, despite mounting trade volumes in recent years.

“Any electronic platform is going to have issues from time to time,” said Dan O’Neil, executive vice-president of futures at Chicago-based optionsXpress Inc. “But by and large, I think the CME has been doing this right. We’ve not had any terrible situations or painful experiences.”
